Navy Memorial

Washington, D.C. is full of memorials.  Matter of fact, there's so many that sometimes you can pass right by one without noticing it.

A good example of this is the United States Navy Memorial.  It's smack in between the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery and the National Archives, and is also the site of a major subway station.
I've often wondered how many times people walk past it and don't realize they are actually at a memorial.
Regardless, it is a very beautiful spot.

Here are some samplings from it.

Really like these ones, too. Did you know my Uncle Tom was in the Navy? He was stationed down in San Diego for years. Anyway, love them!

The lighting on the statue is awesome.

Sara: I'm not sure if I knew Tom was in the navy or not. That's very cool.

Taryn: I agree! The sun is my best friend!
