The Washington Monument. It is the landmark in Washington, D.C.
I always refer to it as, "My mountain in the East."
It is actually made of two types of stones and, interestingly enough, it is Washington, D.C. law that no other building can come close (or exceed) its height.
I know there are quite a few pictures in this sampling and that some are similar, but like many times before, it is hard to pick favorites.
(This last image is just so terrific in black and white. I actually prefer black and white photography to color, but, I also know that color conveys much emotion. I am on planning on doing a post of pictures in black and white soon.)
