George Washington Masonic Memorial

Many of the Founding Fathers were Free Masons.  Certainly the most famous was George Washington.

To honor the first president of the United States, the Free Masons built (and run) the George Washington Masonic Memorial in Alexandria, Virginia.

The memorial contains numerous artifacts, figures, statues, and other memorial pieces of George Washington and Free Masonry.  It's an interesting place and is definitely a must-see spot in the Washington, D.C. area for George Washington buffs.

I visited the memorial on a sopping wet, rainy day last summer.  The sky was absolutely covered in clouds and not an ounce of sun or blue skies were to be seen.  I normally prefer bright, blue skies but I like how the rainy day affected the pictures.  Here are a few of my favorite shots.
