National Portrait Gallery

The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery and American Art Museum are two separate museums housed in the same building; the old U.S. Patent Building.

I really enjoy both of these museum and I consider the National Portrait Gallery to be one of my very favorite museums in the city.

Not only are both museums fantastic, the building itself is remarkable.  It's a beautiful structure with great views of the city.  The interior is amazing and there's the most stunning courtyard with a ceiling in the shape of a wave.  Needless to say, the place is very photogenic.

I know there are a lot of pictures in this sampling, but it was just so hard to choose favorites.
