The Korean War is nicknamed "the forgotten war" because it is sandwiched between World War II and the Vietnam War. Despite it being "forgotten", it was considered one of the most difficult wars because of extremely brutal conditions. Soldiers had to deal with extreme weather conditions from harsh winters, severe rainy seasons, and hot/humid summers.
The interesting thing about this memorial is that it was built to represent the struggles the soldiers faced during the war. The statues of the soldiers are placed in an area that alternates patches of bushes and patches of marble. It is meant to represent the varying degrees of struggles they faced.
It was definitely very moving to shoot.
